We provide staff expertise and funding to build new educational, tourism, and recreational opportunities across the state. The Heritage Area offers citizens, agencies, and property owners the following statewide programs:

Professional Services and Outreach provides trained staff/student assistance at no cost to property owners and organizations developing heritage programs and projects. Please contact us to learn more about how we may be able to help.

Collaborative Partnerships allow local governments and non-profit groups to apply for matching grant funds for programs and projects including heritage tourism initiatives, exhibits, educational materials/programming, archeological surveys, and site interpretation. All funds received from the Heritage Area must be matched dollar for dollar with non-federal money. Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their project idea with Heritage Area staff prior to submitting an application. Applications are reviewed and approved by our Board of Advisors each spring and fall, and all applicants will be notified of the Board's decisions in writing. Proposals must be postmarked by January 31 for consideration in the spring, and August 31 for consider in the fall. Please note that it may take up to three months from the date of submission before applicants are notified of a final decision.
